Former Republican U.S. Representative Mayra Flores raised more than twice as much as Democratic incumbent Representative Vicente Gonzalez in the first quarter of 2024. The Federal Election Commission says Flores raised more than $1 million between the beginning of the year and the end of March. Gonzalez raised less than $500,000 in that same time, but he still has more money in the bank. Flores is challenging Gonzalez for the 34th Congressional District in the Rio Grande Valley, a district the national GOP is determined to flip this year.
