Confusing, right?

Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart shoves a fan after a play at the end of the game against Texas Tech.

Normally, the player is at fault here. We throw him under the bus and move on.

But there has to be something else going on when Texas Tech basically forces the fan who got shoved to apologize to the player who shoved him:

"I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere apologies to Marcus Smart, Oklahoma State, Tubby Smith and the Texas Tech Men's Basketball program. My actions last night were inappropriate and do not reflect myself or Texas Tech - a university I love dearly. I regret calling Mr. Smart a "piece of crap" but I want to make it known that I did not use a racial slur of any kind. Additionally, I would like to offer my apologies to Texas Tech fans that have been embarrassed by the attention this incident has created."

According to reports, Jeff Orr is an air-traffic controller from Waco and is a huge Tech fan. Okay, so he denies calling Smart the n-word or using any racial slur. But how bad a fan and embarrassment to your university do you have to be so that you get banned from games for the rest of the season? You're a grown man yelling insults at college kids. Good for you.

Oh, and the internet never forgets. It didn't take long for others to dig up footage of this guy. Watch at the very end:
