Police Investigating Possible Facebook Post Linked To Toronto Van Suspect

Police formally charged the driver of a van attack in Toronto with ten counts of first-degree murder and 13 counts of attempted murder. Authorities are digging into the life of Alek Minassian as they try to determine the motive for his deadly attack. Toronto Police Service Chief Mark Saunders said that “it’s very clear the actions definitely looked deliberate," but they are still investigating what caused him to go on the rampage.

Police are currently investigating a Facebook post and are trying to determine if it was posted by Minassian before the attack.

"The Incel Rebellion has already begun! We will overthrow all the Chads and Stacys! All hail the Supreme Gentleman Elliot Rodger!”

According to the CBC, the term "Incel" is slang for "involuntarily celibate." The man he mentioned, Elliot Rodger killed six people in 2014 near the University of California at Santa Barbara before committing suicide. The 22-year-old said he killed them because he was a virgin and wanted revenge on those who were sexually active.

The 25-year-old attended a special needs program at Thornlea Secondary School where he graduated in 2011. A former classmate of Minassian's said that he "wasn't a social person" and that he would walk through "the halls with his hands together and his head down, and making meowing noises." She added that she felt that "he was absolutely harmless."
