PETA Wants To Erect A Memorial To Lobsters That Died In A Truck Accident

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) wants to erect a five-foot granite memorial on the site of a truck crash in Maine last week that left thousands of lobsters dead.

It's estimated that around 45-hundred lobsters died after a box truck hydroplaned and overturned along a roadside in Brunswick. PETA has submitted a proposal to the state highway department that would read, "In memory of the lobsters who suffered and died at this spot August 2018, Try Vegan, PETA."

PETA Director Danielle Katz wrote that the marker would remind people that going vegan is the best way to prevent these kind of tragedies. The group argues that lobsters feel pain, although there's not any scientific consensus on that point.

The state is reviewing the request.Source: USA Today
