Fort Worth Police Officer Shoots, Kills Woman Inside Her Home

Police Lights and Sirens Law Enforcements

A fatal officer-involved shooting in Fort Worth is making national headlines. Police were investigating after a neighbor called the non-emergency number for a welfare check when he saw the doors open and the lights on at the woman's house during the early morning hours. The neighbor said he knew she was home with her nephew and was looking to do the right thing and make sure they were safe. The Department has since released body cam footage that shows the officer peering inside a window with a flashlight, spotting someone inside near a window and telling her to put her hands up before opening fire. The victim who was shot has been identified as 28-year-old Atatiana Jefferson.
