Apollo 16 Astronaut Honored As Texan Of The Year

Announcement for APOLLO 11 - An Immersive 360° Adventure

An Apollo astronaut is the 2020 Texan of the Year. The Texas Legislative Conference bestowed the honor on Brigadier General Charles Duke during a Tuesday event at Space Center Houston. Duke served as the pilot of the lunar module in the 1972 mission. The 84-year-old spaceman is from the Carolinas and has lived in Texas since 1975. Duke is one of only a dozen people who have walked on the moon. He was also the voice of Mission Control during Apollo 11, the first manned moon landing mission, in 1969.
