AG Paxton Asks Texas Supreme Court To Dismiss Whistleblower Lawsuit

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is asking the Texas Supreme Court to toss out a whistleblower lawsuit against him. Four former officials filed suit, claiming they were fired after accusing Paxton of taking bribes and other improper acts. Paxton claims the Texas Whistleblower Act protects government employees from on-the-job retaliation by other public employees. Paxton's appeal says the Attorney General is an elected official, not a public employee. Paxton unsuccessfully tried a similar argument before an appeals court in October, but the court allowed the lawsuit to continue.
