The U.S. Treasury Department is opening an investigation into Governor Greg Abbott's use of federal COVID funds on Operation Lone Star. According to the Washington Post, the agency's inspector general is starting a broad review into how Texas has allocated the money following reports the state moved about a billion dollars meant for coronavirus relief into the initiative at the border. The probe was launched on Tuesday, one day after several Texas House Democrats sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen asking for an investigation. Governor Abbott's office says the state used the funds properly.
