Amazon Hires 4,600 Texas Workers, Including Many Laid Off During Outbreak

More than 4,600 Texans are new hires at Amazon to handle a surge in online buying brought on by stay-at-home orders. The online retail giant made the announcement on Monday. Amazon noted that many of its new workers had recently been laid off from jobs such as cooks, bartenders, flight attendants, teachers, personal trainers and rideshare drivers. The new Texas hires will do a variety of jobs, including order fulfillment and package delivery, as they meet the demands of the stay-at-home shopping tsunami.
