A "sword-wielding man dressed as a ninja" reportedly "attacked and wounded" special operations soldiers training at an airport in the Mojave desert last month.
The military news outlet Stars and Stripes reports the incident took place at some point after 1:00 a.m. on September 18, "according to what appears to be a military incident report shared on Instagram and Reddit."
Ridgecrest Police Department records obtained by the website confirm details through social media documents, which suggest a staff sergeant and captain were among the wounded victims in the reported attack on members of "the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, an elite helicopter unit known as the Night Stalkers," Stars and Stripes reports.
The photographed report -- which has not been independently verifed as of Thursday (September 30) -- states a staff sergeant was smoking a cigarette outside when "an unknown person wearing full ninja garb" approached him and asked, "Do you know who I am?" and "Do you know where my family is?"
The soldier answered, "no" and the suspect began to slash at the soldier, which included striking his phone, knee and leg, according to the report shared by Stars and Stripes.
The staff sergeant ran away from the attack, which led to the man dressed as a ninja kicking and punching doors and windows before throwing a large block of asphalt through. window of the building.
The captain, who was inside the building at the time, was struck by the block, according to the social media document via Stars and Stripes.
The soldiers called 911 and the suspect fleed the scene before being arrested by police at another location.
