Republican state senators who will serve as jurors in the upcoming impeachment trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton are starting to feel the heat. Paxton's supporters are lobbying a half-dozen senators, and certain senators are the focus of critical TV ads. Former Gov. Rick Perry and the GOP group Texans for Lawsuit Reform are urging senators to resist efforts to stop the trial before it can start. A pro-Paxton PAC is threatening to end the political careers of any senator who votes to convict Paxton. The trial begins on September 5th.
