Patrick Calls On Former Texas Judge As Legal Counsel During Paxton Trial

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is calling on retired Justice Lana Myers to be his legal counsel during the impeachment trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton. Myers retired as a justice of the Texas Fifth Court of Appeals late last year. she will assist Patrick as he presides over the trial , which is expected to last two to three weeks. Patrick had asked retired Justice Marc Brown to counsel him during the trial. Brown declined the position because he and his wife had made a political contribution to one of Paxton's primary challengers in 2021.
