A federal judge has struck down a new Texas law that prohibits "sexually oriented performances" in front of minors.

LGBTQ advocates said the law was really meant to target drag shows, and today a federal judge called it an "unconstitutional restriction on speech."

It would have slapped civil penalties on businesses that host sexually-oriented performances. The performers could have faced criminal charges. The ruling says that drag shows are considered 'expressive conduct' that should be protected by First Amendment
